Three men in suits at an event.

Melvin Green, Jr. grew up in the Liberty/Kashmere Garden area of Houston. He was a student-athlete graduate from Kashmere High School in 1978. Melvin loved to play backyard football, but he always got injured thus the nickname โ€œCAPโ€ which was short for โ€œHandicapโ€. If you asked him why he was called โ€œCAPโ€ he would say because he was not afraid to bust a โ€œCAPโ€ in somebody โ€“ then laughed at his own corny jokes.
He was a member of the varsity football team at Kashmere wearing 41 in honor of his neighbor Tim Gray Kashmere class of 1971. Cap was a two-year varsity letterman for Coach Johnny B. Felder. He accepted a full football scholarship to North Texas State University in Denton Texas.
After football, Melvin followed in his fatherโ€™s footsteps and became a truck driver for SYSCO. He had more than 25 years of service before his untimely death. He was a member of the Restoration Church and served faithfully as Head Deacon.
Melvin was married twice โ€“ first to Tina Green โ€“ they had a son, Melvin Green III, and one grandson โ€“ Bradin. Melvinโ€™s current wife is Demita and he is stepfather to her son – Joquese. โ€œCAPโ€ was good people and he lived the American dream. All that happened to him was part of Godโ€™s plan and he was excited to be a part of it. Melvin spent a lot of time at his momโ€™s house sitting under โ€œThe Treeโ€ with friends of the neighborhood laughing and reflecting back to their youth. Melvin was a proud Ram and supported the KFAA fundraising efforts as well as a member of the original scholarship committee and was in attendance at the KFAA inaugural meeting in 2013. He was also instrumental in his sisters Janice & Joan becoming active members and recipients of the KFAA Ring of Honor in 2020. We miss him so very much but now he is a student-athlete for Jesus!

Lorem Ipsum has been the industrys standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown prmontserrat took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
