James Lucious Randle Jr. aka “Poppa” a 1972 graduate was born in Houston, Texas to James Lucious Randle Sr. and Priscilla Helen Kemp. At an early age of 10, James expressed an interest in sports and a child skilled in wood crafts. During his early years of middle school at I.M. Terrell, James played basketball as well as neighborhood sports. While playing these sports his interested grew more towards basketball, where he was influenced by family and coaching staff to join the Kashmere Basketball team. James played under the guidance of Coach Weldon Drew, were he earned a letterman jacket in 1971. During this time and his training it was then James found an admiration, love and respect for the game along with his discipline for life and the real world. James later attended University of Texas. Thereafter, he briefly continued recreational sports and was a member of several leagues where he earned many awards. He then entered the Oil and Gas Industry where he worked for several large Petroleum entities. He worked for Phillip Petroleum for thirty five years and received many accolades during his tenure. Now retired after forty years, James has enhanced his craftsmanship. He is known to many to be a “jack of all trades”. He is a proud, loving, awesome and hardworking husband. He is also an amazing, loving and supportive father of three daughters and grandfather to one granddaughter. He enjoys family, fishing, hunting, bowling, baking and adores his love for God and being an active member of his church as a head deacon as well as community outreach. James is grateful for all his blessing from God, his life experiences as a participant as well as an influencer and now enjoying the fruits of his labor.
