Harvey Lee Armstrong, Born December 29, 1959, to the proud parents of Faye Jeanette and Arthur E. Armstrong, Sr. He is the youngest of four siblings in Houston Texas. Harvey graduated from Kashmere High School with honors and received several prestigious recognitions, such as the Blue Chipper, All-District, All-State, Houston Chronicle 70’s All-Decade.
Team and All-American in Who’s Who Football USA. Received over 25 scholarship offers to Division 1 Universities. Armstrong was an outstanding college student, an athlete at Southern Methodist University (1978 –1982), where he played under the coaching of Ron Meyers. During his time at Southern Methodist University (SMU), Armstrong earned “Freshman of the Year”. All-Conference his sophomore, junior and senior year, as well as Kodak All-American honors for the Mustangs. Harvey was named an Academic All-American and made the Dean’s List. He was the youngest ever named the captain of the Southwest Conference Championship team his junior year. Drafted in 1982 by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 7th round of the National Football League (NFL). He played under the coaching of Dick Vermeil for the Eagles until 1985. A standout NFL Defensive Lineman, Armstrong continued his career in the NFL playing for the Indianapolis Colts from 1986-1991. He was American Football Conference (AFC) player of the week in 1988 against the Green Bay Packers and in 1989 against the Oakland Raiders. In addition to numerous accolades for his work on the field, he was the recipient of several humanitarian awards off the field including WBC Man of the Year in 1989 and NFL’s Ed Block Courage Award for assisting abused children, 1987 -1990; Co-Founded Disability Kids Bowl. Chaired fundraiser for Leukemia Foundation of 1989. Worked as a volunteer fundraiser for the NAACP 1990 – 1991. He organized the GAPP program in Indianapolis, IN 1989 – 1991. Founded The Harvey Armstrong Football Camp for intercity kids ages 6-13. 1991 – 1992.
Armstrong served as a football commentator for Comcast Cable Vision from 1991-93. Since 1987, Armstrong has held sales and marketing positions for various companies including Coca-Cola, Thompson Hospitality, and Omni Business Products. After his time as Defensive Line Coach for the XFL Chicago Enforcers, he became Co-Owner of an Allstate Insurance Agency with his wife Sharon McCarty Armstrong. Harvey and Sharon have two beautiful girls, Madison J and Sidney J. Harvey Lee serve as CEO and President of Star Struck Foundation a non-profit 501c3 organization that provides programs for high-risk youth. In addition, Harvey attends New Mercies Christian Church where he serves as a Deacon and the Director of Noble Warrior’s (Men’s Ministry). As a member of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA), Member of the NFL Alumni Organization, Sports Advisor to the Gwinnett Football League for youth ages 6-13 and is a circuit speaker in the Gwinnett County Public School System. Harvey was inducted into SMU Hall of Fame class of 2015. He received a Humanitarian award from The Huddle Group in 2016.
