When you mention great coaches and great programs concerning girls’ basketball, do not leave out Kashmere Lady Rams Basketball. During the 1980’s and early 1990’s, Lady Ram’s basketball blazed the courts with the spirit of the boy’s program; high octane offense with a smothering defense. Lead by Coach Oscar Ogilvie, the girls finished either 1st or 2nd in 19-5a & 22-4a district play. Coach Ogilvie offenses from 85-95 finished in top 10 in the area; averaging nearly 80 points a game!! The Lady Rams under Coach provided the school with thrills every season by going into the playoffs 13 of 16 years under Ogilvie!! Coach Ogilvie was named district Coach of the Year for the 1994-1995 season. Along the way, Coach Ogilvie served as a mentor for the girls by providing leadership and mentorship. These young women carried his leadership into their careers, college, military, etc. Oscar Ogilvie, whether it is teaching Economics in the classroom, assistant boy’s baseball coach, or head girls basketball coach, dedicated his time, effort, and energy into the students of Kashmere Sr. High School!!
