Thomas Hendricks

Thomas E. Hendricks came to Houston in the early 1960s to coach football and track at Kashmere High School. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1957 in Detroit, where he played football and track. Tom earned a degree in education from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where he also played football. He coached Henry Carr, 1964 Olympic Gold Medalist at Northwestern. In 1999, he was inducted into the Houston Coaches Association. Tom played professional football for the New York Giants. His son Thomas, known as Tommy, played for Eisenhower High in the Aldine district. He went on to play at his dad’s alma mater the University of Michigan and for the Miami Dolphins and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
