Donna Bass was born on May 31, 1973 in Houston, Texas. She is the daughter of Jeanette B. Bass. Donna was a multi-talented three sport student-athlete graduating Kashmere High in 1991. She displayed outstanding athletic talents at a very young age and began to gravity more toward basketball at the age of nine, in Lovelady, Texas where the family relocate. There under the guidance of her great-grandmother Jennie Mae Watson, she began hooping on a bicycle rim which was nailed to a tree. Her first organized team was the Little Dribblers coached by Mr. Avalon.
At the age of thirteen her family moved back to Houston, where she enrolled at Lamar Fleming Middle School and joined the basketball team earning the starting point guard position. Fleming would go undefeated in district play with a 10-0 record before losing in the city playoffs. While playing for Fleming she had the pleasure of meeting Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson (Twin Towers) of the Houston Rockets.
At Kashmere Senior High Donna would blossom into a three sport student- athlete while participating in basketball, volleyball, and track, with basketball as always being her favorite. Donna gives a lot of credit to her coaches Oscar O’Gilvie and Garry Dunham for her success in athletics. She earned several accolades at Kashmere, three-time All District in basketball averaging 16.0 per game along with winning District three out the four years that she played. Donna also was All District in Volleyball in 1991. She was a member of the track team regional finalist 4×1 & 4×2 relay teams. Upon graduating in 1991 she attended Vogue Beauty College before starting employment at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company which is now AT&T as a Cable Splicing Technician. She is approaching her 27th year on the job. Donna has one son Jarrett S. Bass.
