Thomas Hendricks

Thomas E. Hendricks came to Houston in the early 1960s to coach football and track at Kashmere High School. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1957 in Detroit, where he played football and track. Tom earned a degree in education from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where he also played football. He coached Henry Carr, 1964 Olympic Gold Medalist at Northwestern. Henry L. Stevenson

Coach Henry L. Stevenson lettered in baseball at Texas Southern University, before coming to Kashmere as baseball and basketball coach. He never coached a losing baseball season during his career at Kashmere. Retired as baseball coach in 1970 to move into an administrated position. Weldon Drew

Weldon Drew was a standout basketball player at Phillis Wheatley High School and Fisk University. He led Kashmere to Co State Championship in 1960 with Joe Lackey and Mighty Joe Young whom both ranked in the top ten players of the 60’s in the HISD. Billie Matthews

  Billie Matthews: Led Southern University to a 12-0 season as a freshman quarterback and the 1948 NAIA National Championship. His career record at Southern was 37-4. Kashmere head football coach from 1957 to 1970 before accepting coaching assignment at the University of Kansas, moving on to UCLA. Afterward entering the professional ranks, and coaching with the 49ers, Eagles, Colts, Chiefs and Lions before retiring in 1995
