– is a 1971 basketball student-athlete and graduate of Kashmere Senior High School. My love for sports started at an early age as a little league baseball player for the Trinity Gardens Yankees under Coach Earl Thomas. My elementary education was at J C Sanderson and I went to junior high school at I M Terrell. In 1969, I entered Kashmere as a tenth grade student concentrating on academics and not participating in athletics. Something amazing happen over the summer before entering the 11th grade, I had a growth spurt that took my height to 6’3 inch tall. This gave me the confident to try out for the basketball team, although not haven’t previous played organize basketball before. I was fortunate enough to make the junior varsity team and began to develop my game through hard work and dedication. This workmanship to get better carried on through the summer and I entered the senior year ready to take my game to another level. Pat earned a starting forward position for Coach Drew and leaded the team in scoring in only his second year of basketball.
After graduating from Kashmere, through some Houston connection at Morgan State I was given a chance to make the Morgan State University team in Baltimore, Maryland. Again, through hard work I became a four year letterman at Morgan and graduated in 1975 with a degree in Business Administration. My junior year 1974 was a signature year for basketball in Morgan State history. Historical Black College basketball was in the midst of a change, as integration was in full swing across the country. Morgan State was a member of the newly formed Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and coached by Nat Frazier. The 1974 squad was leaded by Marvin Webster, Pat and his Kashmere High teammate Michael Streety. We lost out in the MEAC Tournament but received an invitation to the NCAA Division II Championship in Evansville, Indiana. We defeated Southwest Missouri 67-52 and were crowned Division II 1974 National Champs and became only the second HBCU School to win an NCAA basketball championship. I have been employed at GB Bioscience Corporation for 44 years and will be retiring next month.
