Randy Charles

As a proud member of the Kashmere Rams Family, Randy Charles had the privilege of walking the storied halls of Kashmere Senior High School from 1974 – 1977. To this very day, the years spent at Kashmere still resonate as some of the best and most impactful of his life!

Randy was a member of the ’75-‘76 (11-2) and ’76-‘77 (11-1) Varsity Football Teams, starting both years as an offensive guard and reaching the State Quarterfinals in 1975 and  the Regionals in 1976. Randy served as one of the captains of the ’76-‘77 Coach Johnny B. Felder football team and participated in multiple extracurricular activities throughout his time in Ram Land including Student Council, Advanced Choir, Drama Club, French Club, and the National Honor Society whereby he served as President. He was voted “Most Studious” as a junior, finished in the Top Ten of his senior class, selected as Kashmere’s HISD “Most Outstanding Senior Male” for the Class of 1977, and awarded the Barbara Jordan Scholarship, Jessie H. Jones Endowment Scholarship, and an academic scholarship from the University of Texas.

With the blessings of scholarship support, family support, and financial aid, Randy furthered his education at The University of Texas at Austin graduating with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in May 1982. He subsequently went to work in the oil and gas industry for Sun Oil Company as an operations engineer. Over the course of a 17-year career, Randy provided engineering support to field operational teams located in Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming, Louisiana, and Offshore Gulf of Mexico. He was a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.

Because of the profound and everlasting influence of outstanding educators and administrators from Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School, R. L. Isaacs Elementary, Lamar Fleming Junior High, and Kashmere Senior High, Randy embarked on a career path that led him to the field of Education in 1999. He taught 7th grade math for 4 years, became an assistant principal for 2 years, and eventually served as a Middle School Principal for 3 years, all within the Lake Dallas Independent School District. Randy obtained a Master of Education from Tarleton State University in May 2005 with an emphasis in Educational Administration.

After fulfilling his mission of an educator and administrator, Randy transitioned back into the oil and gas business in 2008 where he is currently employed by Denbury Resources Inc. located in Plano, Texas. Randy facilitates a team of engineers, engineering technicians, and a geologist who provides technical support to field operations in Montana.

Randy is a Life Member of the Texas Exes, a Legacy Griot of the Texas Exes Black Alumni Network, a member of the Littlefield Society of The University of Texas at Austin, a member of the Cor Vitae Society of the American Heart Association, a member of the Advisory Council for the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin, a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville, Texas, and a dedicated supporter of KFAA’s efforts to provide scholarships to the graduating athletes of Kashmere High School.

Randy is married to his devoted wife, Gloria, of 34 years and they have one son (Philip) and guardianship of their niece (Andrea). Randy is forever grateful to his fellow football teammates for the camaraderie developed on and off the gridiron and genuinely thankful for the lifelong friends that taught him the true meaning of Brotherhood and “extended” Family.
