Frank Norton

Frank Norton was an active member of the Kashmere Senior High School Golf team for two consecutive years. He was a two-year member of the golf team. In 1970, Kashmere‘s Golf team was HISD’s 17-4A district champions. This championship advanced the team to the Regional playoffs at the newly opened Bear Creek Park in Northwest Houston. The team’s coaches were Mr. Weldon Drew and Mr. Goldman.
Frank‘s interest in golf was sparked by his two older brothers, Lewis and Kevin Norton. Both played golf for Kashmere. Lewis played in 1967 and Kevin in 1969. Frank had the pleasure of playing his first year of golf with his brother Kevin in 1969.
Frank enjoyed playing all outdoor and indoor sports. He actively played baseball, basketball, and football in Ryan’s community where he grew up. He wanted to play all of these sports in high school but his parents would not permit him to participate. In high school, Frank was a member of the library club. His responsibilities were to oversee the audio and visual equipment. The sponsor was Mrs. M. T. Jordan.
Frank is a 1976 graduate of Texas Southern University. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Science Degree in Political Science. While attending TSU he had the amazing privilege to be instructed and mentored by the late Dr. Thomas Freeman. Frank highlights this moment under Dr. Freeman’s guidance as the highlight of his entire higher learning experience.
Frank and his wife Sheryl have been married for thirty years. He is the proud father of three adult children, Christina Fowler, Dominic Bailey, and Emerald Norton. He is also an amazing grandfather to four grandchildren, Carson, Cara, Carys, and Dillion. He is affectionately known as Grandpa.
Frank worked for Sears Department Store for twenty-one years. He held various positions in Hardware, Lawn and Garden, Automotive, and Major Appliances. He was awarded Top Salesman during his twenty-one years of service. He is currently employed at the Metropolitan Transit Authority Procurement and Material Department. His current position is in the Rail Service and Inspection Division. Frank has been a loyal and dependent employee of the Metropolitan Transit Authority for twenty-five years.
Frank enjoys spending time with family and friends. His most coveted pleasures are fishing, and attending and watching the Houston Astros Baseball team. His love for cattle ranching is exhibited in his beloved country estate. Frank’s highest testimony is thanking God for all of his many blessings.
