Anthony Earl Quarles; The son of beloved parents W. C. and Doris Stewart-Quarles was born on October 22, 1953. I attended Kashmere High School in year of 1969 to 1972. When I was in the 7th grade football Coach, Mr. Junious Simon asked me to be the manager of the Kashmere Rams Football Team and I gratefully accepted. In 1969 the Kashmere Rams Football Team was 12 -1. It gave us a State Regional Championship. During my senior year 1972, I was elected as Senior Class President, Most Popular Student, Most Personality Student and Member of the Library Club. Kashmere High School is located at 6900 Wileyvale, Houston, Texas – Trinity Garden area. The football staff Head Coach Mr. Billie Matthews, Coaches, Mr. Thomas Hendricks, Mr. Junious Simon, Mr. William McGowan and Mr. Kirby Jones gave me the nickname “Bubba”. I continued my education and attended Texas Southern University where I majored in “Social Work” and Minored in “Child Psychology ” In 1974, I was sworned into the United States Army to serve my country. My military tours were in Fort Polk, Louisiana and Berlin Germany. As an outstanding “Private First Class Officer” I was promoted to a “Specialist First Class Officer”. At the end of my military tour January 19, 1976 I received an “Honorable Discharge”. When I returned from my tour of military duty I was offered and accepted a career at “Cameron Iron Steel Company” from 1976 to 1993. As I furthered my career I accepted an offer of employment from Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1993 until Retirement of 2015. I received outstanding certificates and awards as “Housekeeper” in the year in 1999 which was voted by the V.A. employees. In 2006 I received a promotion as “Supervisor of Housekeeping” with my own personal parking area. In 2008 I attended a nine week course of continuous training class “Emerging V. A. Leadership”. In 1979 my family and I moved to Willow Run Subdivision where I was elected the Vice President of the Civic Club Association. In support to rally the community we called Channel 13 about a water issue and they suggested we travel to Austin. We brought water samples with us to show the water division of The State Capital of Austin about our concerns with the water issue. It was determined that there was an issue of bad water in our community. My church affiliation started the age of eight with Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. My spiritual growth there was from 1965 – 2014. In those years I became Superintendent of Sunday School, Youth Ministry T-Ball Coach and Ordained Deacon in 1985. I was graced with great mentors, Chairman of the Deacons, Attrice Ennis, Deacon Houston Williams and Head Coach Easter of the T- Ball Team. In the church community I visited Nursing Homes, Private Homes and the Hospitals to pray and give communion (The Lord’s Supper). My greatest accomplishment in my life is when my Son, Zachary and Daughter, Celiste was born, my wife, Sandra and children along with my grandchildren. To my brother’s, Willie Dickey and Vincent Quarles, I love you dearly.
