Stanley “Goat” Godine

Stanley “Goat” Godine attended Kashmere High School from 1977-1979 after graduating from Francis Scott Key Jr. High School. He not only was an outstanding football player, but he also excelled in basketball and track. He was one of five players who made the varsity team as a sophomore at Kashmere High School. In 1978, he made First-Team All-District, All-City, and All-State his junior season. One of many highlights for Stanley was returning an interception 100 yards for a touchdown in the Astrodome against Jack Yates High School.  He was selected as a Blue-chipper by Texas Football Magazine and he was a 1979 Parade All-American. Goat was selected to play in the Texas High School All-Star game but could not participate due to an injury. In 1979, he was ranked 36th of the Top 100 High School Football Players in the country by 247Sports. In 1979, he repeated as a First-Team All-District, All-City, and All-Stater. Stanley was offered scholarships to several schools across the country but decided on Southern Methodist University where he joined several of his former teammates from Kashmere.  Stanley was part of a recruiting class that was ranked 2nd in the country behind USC and was considered by many to be one of the best strong safeties in the country. As a freshman at SMU, he was immediately penciled in as a starter at cornerback before being injured. Stanley was part of one of the most feared Kickoff Teams in the country. He currently drives for a trucking company and also does landscaping as a side business.
