Audrey Crawford-Sumpter

My name is Audrey Crawford-Sumpter also known as”Pudney” or “Puddin” to my mom.  I attended James D. Ryan Elementary School and Kashmere for my Junior and Senior High School.  I loved cheerleading and I showcased that talent during both my Jr. and Sr. years.  Cheering kept me active and was in “my blood” for I have 2 older sisters that were also cheerleaders for Kashmere and 1 sister that was a majorette.  My coach at the time was Ms. Bailey who pushed us to our fullest potential.  My senior year, I had the honor of being voted “Personality Plus.”

After graduating in 1967, I attended Durham Business College where I received a secretarial/business degree.  My first real job was that of an elevator operator for JC Penny’s.  Later, I held several bank jobs and those in the clerical field until I retired.  In 1985 I joined New Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Jones.  I am still currently an active member there now under the leadership of Pastor Christopher Moore.  My days attending Kashmere are long gone but my “cheerleading” still continues ONLY now for, CHRIST!  Our Praise Dancing Team keeps me on the move and I participate in as many church functions as I can.  I try to stay in shape with my favorite hobbies which include: Dancing, walking and playing board games.

I have 3 beautiful daughters (Nicolle, Tee and Mynola) and have been married to my wonderful husband of 48 years (Robert).  We have 4 Grand-children and 2 Great-Grandchildren.  My mentors have always been my parents while growing up because they taught me “right from wrong” and life lessons that helped make me the woman I am today.
