Maurice Asberry

Maurice Asberry was a baseball player at Kashmere High School for three years, 1969-1971.  He was the catcher for the team.  Mr. Asberry was an “All District Catcher” in his senior year of 1971.  Major Abram was his coach. 

He attended Houston Community College majoring in Business Administration.  Maurice used his major in Business Administration to work at Foleys Federated Store in management, where he retired in 1989.  In addition, he was the pitching coach for the East Houston Twins Organization for 10 years.  Mr. Asberry also worked in the VIPS Program as a pitching coach with Coach Dave Warren from 1985 to 2003 at Kashmere High School.  Maurice received the Apple Pin Award for his dedication to the VIPS Program.  He attends Trinity Gardens Church of Christ, where his pastor is Timothy Daniels.  Mr. Asberry works in the CD Media Ministry at Trinity Gardens.  A writer can be added to his accomplishments because he wrote a poem called, “My Blue Velvet Band”, in the book entitled, “Timeless Voices”, which was published in 2006 by the International Library of Poetry.

Maurice is the son of the late Franklin and Odell Asberry.  He has been married for 40 years to Debra Denise Asberry and they have one daughter, Ambra Denise Asberry.
