Roland Stansberry

Roland Stansberry is delighted to be remembered as a Kashmere Alumni. His young life was prepared starting at JC Sanderson Elementary, I. M. Terrell Junior High and his beloved Kashmere Senior High. Roland was raised in the Trinity Gardens area where he was introduced to organize sports. Stansberry, a 1972 student-athlete graduate of Kashmere High prepping in football under Coach Johnny B. Felder and Tom Hendricks in track. While searching for his love between football, baseball or track, he soon would realize there was no getting around track because if you played football at Kashmere you ran track, Coach Hendricks would see to that. Stansberry was a two-year letterman in both sports and often ponder which one gave him the best chance to earn a scholarship-aid to a post-secondary institution. While winning several district championships in football and track, a decision had to be made as to which sports to choose for college. Few track offers are full rides to college, which led Roland to accept a football scholarship to Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas. In 1968 Larry Edwards and Henry Glenn open the flood-gates to A&I for several Kashmere athletes, as the Ramโ€™s campus became a hotbed for A&I football staff.ย  Participating in football at A&I were filled with many championships and team accolades such as 3 consecutives undefeated seasons and a National Championship.

After A&I, Roland would graduate from DeVry Tech as an Electrical Technogist and would also become a graduate of The College of Bible Studies. His work career began with The Weighing and Measure Technology starting with Toledo Scale now Mettler Toledo. He is a life-time member of The Weights and Measures Society, now retired after 40 plus years in the industry. He is married to his wife Cynthia and they have (2) daughters and are proud parents of HBCU graduates Clark University and Fisk University. Allyson and Jourdan each have one son. Roland and his wife (Cynthia) are proud grandparents of Kevin Brooks 12 years old and Chase Garr 9. He is enjoying spreading Godโ€™s word as a preacher serving as an Elder of Christian Education in The Church. He would like to thank all for a wonderful going away present from the people I grew up with dearest to my heart.
