Alex “Boardwalk” Ferguson

Three-Year Letterman, Two-Year Starter

Alex was reared in the Bottom neighborhood of Fifth Ward his family later moved into the Kelly Courts where his interest in sports excelled. Alex attended E. O Smith Junior High where he was a standout linebacker. He decided to attend Kashmere Gardens Senior High, along with his childhood friend Howard (Sak) Wilson to play for Coach Billie Matthews. It was at Kashmere Gardens that he would earn the AKA name of โ€œBoardwalkโ€ from his line Coach Junious Simon. Alex would begin to excel as an athlete earning All-State honors at center and linebacker and would make the All-American team at linebacker his senior season. He became Kashmereโ€™s first and only two-way All-State athlete. His senior year Kashmere would finish the season 8-2 losing only to Phillis Wheatley and Beaumont Hebert. Boardwalk, with teammates Joseph Berryman and Chris Middleton, earned football scholarships to Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.

It is KFAA hope to preserve and celebrate the athletic heritage and tradition of this great school. KFAA will develop partnerships and apply our energies and resources toward a better athletic program.
