Carl Belcher, Sr.

Carl Belcher Sr., student-athlete at Kashmere High School and a 1975 graduate.  My tenth grade year I was the captain of the Junior Varsity basketball team, coached by Ned Streety, who was very instrumental in my development. We won the city championship that year! I was a two-year varsity letterman under the direction of Coach Weldon Drew. My junior season we recorded a 39-2 record and won the state championship, as a senior we went 46-0 and won the state championship again, which included a 78 game win streak and the #1 rank team in the nation.. As a senior, I also was rated by sports media as the best sixth man in Texas high school basketball, after averaging 15.0 points a game as a non-starter. I earned a full scholarship to attend the University of Texas. After a year, I transferred to Southwestern University where I was voted 1st team All-American both my junior and senior season. I set two records while at SWU, most block shots in single game (18) and scored 20 points 15 rebounds in 28 consecutive games, those two records still stand today. I married my college sweetheart, Dr. Sheila Belcher, who is considered as one of the best dentists in Texas. We are blessed with two sons, Carl Belcher 2 and Ryan Belcher who both are gainfully employed. We have three granddaughters Jade, Bailey and Madison. My employment career as a truck driver spans for over twenty years and Iโ€™m currently employed with ZiplineTransportation where we haul liquid for several chemical plants. I’m a member of the Trinity Gardens Church of Christ where former standout tailback of the Rams, Timothy Daniels has been the Pastor for over twenty plus years. This induction is a great honor for me and my family!
