Carlton L. Petties

Carlton L. Petties is a 1978 member of the Fighting Rams Class. Fondly called by only his last name, Petties was a student-athlete in the football program playing Defensive Tackle for Coach Johnny B. Felder. Being an exceptional player, he was a starting Varsity player for three years consecutively and a member of Kashmereโ€™s District, City, and State-Qualifiers teams. Petties was named First Team All-District, First Team All-City, Second Team All-American, and local defensive player of the week on numerous occasions.
Petties received many scholarship offers and opted to settle at Texas A&I-Kingsville, Kingsville, Texas along with his best friends, Craig Dair and Haywood Truby. He studied Industrial Arts and played Defensive End under Coach Gil Steinke for the Champion Javelinas where he started Varsity his freshmen year. After returning to Houston, Petties began employment with Harris County Precinct One. Being a dedicated employee, he committed his time to take the lead and co-lead roles in numerous community events outside of his regular job duties such as the Summer Street Olympics, first responder for major storm occurrences, and senior citizensโ€™ holiday programs. In addition, Petties participated in the Harris County Mentoring Program for Young Men at Kashmere High School developed under Commissioner El Franco Lee. While at the county, in his spare time, Petties coached little league football, sharing in the development of future players in arenas from high school to currently, the NFL. To this day, he is still referred to as โ€œCoachโ€ by his then-young players. After thirty-five rewarding years, Petties retired in 2020. He spends his retirement doing exactly what his heart desires. Petties is enjoying refining his exceptional BBQ skills initially acquired years ago in the family business. Heโ€™s focused on his 1948 Chevy truck project. And most importantly, Petties is faithfully serving the Lord in several ministries at The Fort Bend Church including The Men of the Bend (MOB), the Marriage Ministry, and Pastor Aides.
Petties is married to his college sweetie, Ann. They have been married for thirty-six years and are blessed with two sons, Carlton II (Tu) and Abram, and two loving grandchildren, Cayden and Kimberlynn.
