Dr. Albert L. Lemons is a native of San Francisco, California (reared by an aunt Cleo Minor Rice in Houston, Texas). He is a graduate of Kashmere Gardens Junior and Senior High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas Southern University. He also attended the University of Houston (Central and Clear Lake Campuses), Rice University, Sam Houston State University, North Texas State University, University of Texas, Prairie View A & M University, Inter Baptist Theology Seminary, and the University of the Netherlands’ Virtual School. Dr. Lemons received a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a Master of Education in Educational Administration, a Doctorate of Sacred Music, and a Doctorate of Education. Dr. Lemons is an Educator, Musician, Model, and Public Speaker. Dr. Lemons has made many contributions to the educational system of Houston Independent School District for the past 55 years. He began his career as a fourth-grade teacher at T. M. Fairchild Elementary School. He taught at J. W. Oates Elementary, Holland Middle School, and Jefferson Davis High School. He has served as Administrator for the W. Leo Daniels Private School, a reading instructor, and assistant director for the summer youth program at Texas Southern. Also, Dr. Lemons worked at Prairie View A&M University for 4 summers. Presently, Dr. Lemons is the proud principal of the Charles Atherton “University” Elementary School where he believes in putting “Children First”. As a musician, Dr. Lemons has contributed to many churches throughout the United States in music workshops. He served as the minister of music for the Southeast Texas Annual Conference, Academic Dean for the Houston Chapter and the Director of Supervisors for the National Convention of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc. Dr. Lemons holds the position of Minister of Music (Emeritus), where he displays his musical talent and his love for God. He is a retired church musician. Dr. Lemons is affiliated with various organizations which include: the Houston Association of School Administrators (HASA), Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE), Texas Association of Black School Educators (TABSE), National Association of Black School Educators (NABSE), Texas Association of Hispanic School Administrators (TAHSA), and, Armark Advisory Board (HISD), Fifth Ward Cultural Fine Arts Committee, along with membership in many other organizations. He has been a Board Member of the Wesley Community Center, Julia C. Hester House Community Center, and the Gospel Melody Enterprise. He oversees the Public Relations Dept. and serves as a musician at Robey Funeral Home. His other involvement in community organizations include The American Red Cross, NAACP, PTO, Texas Southern University Alumni, Kashmere High School Alumni, Notary for the State of Texas, past trustee for Miles Chapel C.M.E. Church and Director for Houston ATPE (Association of Texas Professional Educator). He has served on the North Forest School Board (2007-2010) and is a member of the Superintendent’s AD HOC Committee (Houston ISD). He has been appointed to the Near Northside Management District Board of Directors by State Representative Harold Dutton. He was voted Vice-President. He is serving on the committee for the Gospel Heritage Month (September) Celebration by Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee. Dr. Lemons was “King” Model of the Year for ten years with the Callie Lewis Watson & The Forty Plus Modeling, Inc. He was named the Chairman of the Theola Booker Gospelfest which is held every September of each year through the “Gospel Heritage Month” celebration. He also serves in the African America Leadership Council of the Houston Symphony
