Francine Lewis

Francine Lewis, the daughter of Mr. John and Cecil Lewis, attended Kashmere Senior High School, and a proud graduate of the 1994 senior class.  While attending Kashmere, Francine participated in various sporting activities, clubs, and organizations which included student council, national honor society, cosmetology, cheer, basketball, track, and tennis.  She also held many leadership positions as cosmetology president, cheerleading captain, and still proud to be voted by her student body peers with the highest honor, Miss Kashmere 1993-1994.  Not only did Francine graduate with honors in the top 10% of her class, she was a licensed cosmetologist upon graduation.  After graduation, she started her studies at Sam Houston State University majoring in Biology.  She later transferred to Texas State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Biology.  Francine taught over 9 years at Barbara Jordan High School as the senior cosmetology instructor.   She rendered her talents, gifts, and expertise to give back to inner city students.  During her tenor, she served as the debate coach and produced Barbara Jordan’s historic annual hair shows.  These epic and extraordinary standing room hair shows afforded future cosmetologists city-wide the opportunity to battle it out with other students to showcase their best fantasy innovative presentations.  Francine continued her education and received her Master’s in Education as an Educational Diagnostician where she is now proud to work with special needs students within New Caney ISD.  Her wide array of educational knowledge has afforded her to work with students of all walks of life, and her work is far from complete.  She plans to one day integrate her love of cosmetology with the world of special education to offer jobs and skills to special education students who are gifted with natural abilities to perform and work within the beauty care industry but are unable to pass the written state exams due to special education disabilities.
