Joan Green-Roberts

 

My name is Joan Green-Roberts. I graduated from Kashmere Senior High School with honors in 1976. During my time at Kashmere, I was a member of the volleyball and tennis teams under the awesome guidance of Coach Ozell Harris. I was a member of the National Honor Society. My senior year, I lettered in volleyball and was voted โ€œMost Athletic Female Studentโ€ by my peers.  

 

I attended Texas College in Tyler, Texas and graduated in 1980 with a BS Degree in Business Administration.  Some of my accomplishments included:

  • Cheerleader and Captain of the volleyball team
  • First Runner-Up for Miss Texas College
  • Deanโ€™s List and graduating with honors
  • Listed in Whoโ€™s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges (1980)
  • Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority-Gamma Epsilon Chapter
  • Volunteered for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF)
  • Member of the Texas College Houston Alumni Chapter

For several years, I worked in retail management.  I worked as a Supervisor for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. After 17 years of dedicated service with the State of Texas, I was able to happily retire in June 2018. 

My family includes 3 loving daughters, Jessica West (Adam), Jasmine Berry (Daniel), and Shannon Roberts (Ken).  I am blessed with 6 grandchildren-Tyree, Daniel Jr., Janiyah, Jaylee, Adrien, and Ariyah.  I am on the greeterโ€™s ministry at Silverlake Baptist Church in Pearland, Texas-Reginald DeVaughn, Pastor.  Some of my hobbies include shopping, reading, traveling and spending time with family.

Individually, we as former student-athletes and cheerleaders personify Kashmere traditions and are an integral part of the ongoing success of our current program. As former students weโ€™re a part of this legacy and KFAA greatly value your contribution to our history. It is KFAA hope to preserve and celebrate the athletic heritage and tradition of this great school. KFAA will develop partnerships and apply our energies and resources toward a better athletic program.
