Reginald Hughes

Reggie Hughes is a proud class of 1979 Summa Cum Laude graduate, which at that time, was the top 10% of a graduating class of 514    He played 3rd base Junior Varsity Baseball under Coach Charles Bookman, โ€™77 and โ€™78, and played Varsity Baseball under Coach, Albert Henry, (RIP), โ€™78-โ€™79.  He was also part the award winning UIL Advance Choir, under the guidance and teachings of, Ms. Marion Lee.

He attended the University of Houston, while continuing his employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, (now AT&T).   After a successfully leaving the University of Houston, he continued working for SWBT Co., until the US Governmentโ€™s divestiture of AT&T.  Afterwards, Reggie was employed with The Simpson Paper Company (former Champion International Paper Company).  

Reggie was a competing member of the state of Texas and US National Taekwondo Teams for many years.  He was also an assistant coach for the Texas and US Teams for many years, including the USA Olympic Teams as well.  Heโ€™s trained students and has coached many athletes.  He started his martial arts trading and career in 1974 and is still actively involved to the present day; however, he has retired from active and competitive competitions.  He has received many awards and accolades during his long and illustrious career.

He started his long and present career in Oil and Gas/Energy in 1993.  Working for companies, Goldline Oil Refining, (NGC)/Dynegy Marketing and Trading, Chevron USA, BP Energy and Shell Trading.  Now he is currently employed with the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) executing and facilitating deals that pertains to the buys, sells and nominations of US Domestic Natural Gas.

He has close relatives that have received this prestigious induction, Larry Washington in baseball, (RIP) and Carolyn Hughes in tennis. His career has taken him all over this nation and the globe.  A major part of time is also spent with his family, his children and 3 grandsons; he also enjoys his golfing, other activities and travels!

As former students weโ€™re a part of this legacy and KFAA greatly value your contribution to our history. It is KFAA hope to preserve and celebrate the athletic heritage and tradition of this great school. KFAA will develop partnerships and apply our energies and resources toward a better athletic program.
