Reginald Slater

My name is Reginald Slater; I played for Kashmere High School located in Houston Texas under the tutorship of head basketball coach Frankie Brazos from 1984-1987. I graduated from Barbara Jordan High School of Careers in 1988, because there wereno sports teams at Jordan, I was able to participate at Kashmere. Honors I received at Kashmere were All-Greater Houston, All-Region, All-District First Team, All HISD, and Honorable Mention All American, before earning a basketball scholarship to attend the University of Wyoming.

At Wyoming, I received player of the week multiple times throughout my college career. I made All (Western Athletic Conference) and All-District 7 my sophomore, Junior and Senior Years.  I was Western Athletic Conference MVP for the 1991-1992 season, Honorable Mention All American. The All-time leading rebounder at Wyoming. I received my degree in Science from the University of Wyoming in 1992.

After college I played 10 years professionally in the NBA and overseas, my NBA teams include the Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors and Minnesota Timberwolves  I am currently the owner of seven (7) automotive shops in the greater Houston area and the owner of a Slater’s gym in Richmond, Texas. Iโ€™m married and have kids.

Individually, we as former student-athletes and cheerleaders personify Kashmere traditions and are an integral part of the ongoing success of our current program. As former students weโ€™re a part of this legacy and KFAA greatly value your contribution to our history. It is KFAA hope to preserve and celebrate the athletic heritage and tradition of this great school. KFAA will develop partnerships and apply our energies and resources toward a better athletic program.
