Vernon Lewis Jr

Vernon Lewis Jr was born here in the great city of Houston, TX. He attended McDade Elementary; Key Middle School where they were football District Champions, and Kashmere High School. Vernon started his career in 1985 at Kashmere High School and became a 3-year letterman in football. He received All-District, All-HISD, All-State, Blue-Chipper Student-Athlete, Whoโ€™s Who Publication, and was featured in Sports Illustrated Magazine. He was co-captain in his Junior and Senior years. Vernon ran varsity track his junior and senior years, was district champ in the 200, 400-meter dash, and was Gulf Coast regional finalist in both events. After graduating from Kashmere in 1989, Vernon attended the University of Pittsburgh on a full football scholarship and majored in Criminal Justice. During his time at Pitt, he was a 2-year starter and received Big East Conference honors. Vernon continued his football career with the New England Patriots. While with the Patriots they were AFC Champion in โ€˜97. He is happily married to his high school sweetheart April Edmond Lewis of 27 years. They are proud parents of 4 children and grandparents of 2.

Individually, we as former student-athletes and cheerleaders personify Kashmere traditions and are an integral part of the ongoing success of our current program. As former students weโ€™re a part of this legacy and KFAA greatly value your contribution to our history. It is KFAA hope to preserve and celebrate the athletic heritage and tradition of this great school. KFAA will develop partnerships and apply our energies and resources toward a better athletic program.
