Wayne Anthony Johnson

Wayne Anthony Johnson was born September 27, 1960, in Livingston, Texas. At a very young age, Wayne’s parents, late Henry Lee Johnson and Betty Lee Johnson, noticed he had an appetite to play basketball. At the age of five, they signed him up with the Northeast YMCA basketball team, where he assumed the position as a guard on the team. After the elementary years, Wayne attended I.M. Terrell Junior High in Northeast Houston, where he participated in several sports, such as basketball, football, and track. In his 9th grade year, Wayne held a position as the quarterback for the I.M. Terrell Dolphins under Coach Oliver Narth and was titled โ€œAll-District Quarterbackโ€ for his district. He also played basketball, where he led his team to district and city championships. He was voted โ€œMost Valuable Playerโ€ in the city of Houston. Wayne attended Kashmere Senior High School in the year of 1977. During Wayneโ€™s sophomore year, he joined the varsity basketball team as a point guard under the leadership of his mentor and Head Coach Frankie Brazos and Assistant Coach Danny Thomas. In his junior year, Wayne also started as a full-time point guard and was voted โ€œFirst-Team All-District Point Guard in district nineteen 4Aโ€. During his senior year as a point guard, Wayne and his teammates lead their team to victory by winning the State Championship in the year 1980.

After Wayne graduated from High School, he attended North Texas State University in Denton, Texas on a full scholarship. After his college days, Wayne met and married his wife, Emma Hutchins. They have two sons, a daughter, and seven grandchildren. He and Emma are currently residing in Harker Heights, Texas.

Wayne attended Christian House of Prayer, a local church, under the leadership of late Bishop Nathaniel Holcomb. Wayne served in his church as a staff member for almost 17 years. Later, he heeded the Call of God and attended the Sonship School of the First-Born Bible College, where he received his certification in the ministry.

Wayne now enjoys his days spending time with family and friends, as well as watching his favorite shows, Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune.Bottom of Form
