William Denson

William Denson, played varsity baseball for Kashmere High School from 1967 to 1969, and was the starting first baseman all three years. He was named to the All District team each year and to the All City Honorable Mention team and Co-Captain for the Rams in 1969, his senior year.

William’s love for baseball really began at the age of eleven, when he was selected to his first little league team, the Ryan Sports.  While playing in this league, he was influenced by two coaches; the first being Mr. Herman “Boolah” Smith who coached the Little League team and the second being Mr. Earl Henderson who coached the Pony League team.

As a teenager entering high school, William joined the Kashmere baseball team under the guidance of Coaches Robert Jordan, Major Abram and Henry L. Stevenson. It was here and through their training that William’s love and respect for the game as well as discipline for life in general was enhanced.

William was raised along with his two sisters (he being the oldest) by their Mother and Father in a Christian home. He was in church quite a bit as a child. But even though as a young adult, he found himself not as physically active in that capacity as he had been taught, William never once departed away from his belief in Jesus, his council of the Holy Spirit and his relationship with God. In May of 2009, William was ordained as a Deacon at Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church and in January of 2018, he was chosen to be Chairman of Deacons. When God does anything for us, we ought to give Him Praise.

Now at the age of sixty eight, William is a devoted husband to his wife, Michelle, a loving father of three, Ericka Denson Blue, Dreylyn Griffin and Derrick Denson.  He is also the proud grandfather “PawPaw” of four, Destiny, Isaiah, Kennedy and Amari.

He retired from Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro) in May of 2011, after twenty one years of service.  William enjoys the freedom and pleasures that retirement brings.  He loves spending time with his family and friends, traveling, fishing, attending and watching sports of all kinds with his favorite still being baseball.

Williamโ€™s greatest joy comes from working and serving others.

To God be the glory!!!
