Alex B. Holcombe

Alex B. Holcombe, a 1988 Kashmere High graduate student-athlete in basketball. He attended Marshall Middle School where he began to develop his basketball skills. In search of a high school to attend, Alex chooses Kashmere because of their basketball history and producing athletic scholarships. He enters Kashmere in 1986 as a student athlete in quest of taking his game to the next level, in steps legendary Coach Frankie Brazos to help Alex reach his full potential on and off the court. Alex would ride home after basketball practice with Coach Brazos, through those riding conversations a coach-player friendship was bonded which began to instill the confidents Alex needed to play basketball on the next level. Holcombe was a two year varsity letterman and a member of 17-4A All District Team his senior season. Holcombe team would finish second place in district his junior and senior year. Through Alex play he earned a full basketball scholarship to Baylor University in Waco Texas. 

 The latter part of Alex freshman season at Baylor he earned a starting position after showing steady improvement.   Sophomore year wasnโ€™t impresses as he struggled on the court. Alex junior season things began to turn in his favor as minutes increased and his stat line began to show production. His senior season Baylor hired a new head coach Darrell Johnson who allow Alex more freedom and flexibility which he didnโ€™t have under the previous coach.  In Coach Johnson offensive scheme Alex contribution was outstanding as he average 19.2 points and 9.4 rebounds while earning โ€œAll Southwestern Conferenceโ€ as he closed out his collegiate career. In the 1993 NBA Draft the Sacramento Kings selected Alex Holcombe as their 2nd round pick and the 44th pick player in the draft. He eventually would play overseas for 8 seasons in several countries with different professional clubs. Alex is married to his college sweetheart Angela Stewart in June it will be 29 years and they have two sons Alex and Aerik.
