Charlie Ross

Charlie Ross, student-athlete basketball player a graduate of Kashmere High School in 1975. His basketball journey began at I. M. Terrell under the direction of Coach Randy Grimes. In 1973 he moved on to Kashmere and played for legendary Coach Weldon Drew successful basketball program. Charlie was a two year varsity letterman and a member of back to back state championships. He played an integral part in Kashmereโ€™s championship repeat and the incredible 78 game win streak as he capped off his high school career. EA Sports ranked Kashmere the number one high school basketball team in the nation in 1975. In 2023 the squad was inducted into HISD โ€œHall of Fameโ€

Charlie earned a basketball scholarship to Northeastern Oklahoma, located in Norman, along with two teammates Carl Byrd and Henry Small. This trio had played together since junior high school days at I. M. Terrell. After two years at Northeastern and earning his associate degree Charlie returned to Houston and gained employment at M. D. Anderson as an engineer. This year Charlie and his teammates will celebrate their 50th year anniversary of winning state and the number one ranking.

Individually, we as former student-athletes and cheerleaders personify Kashmere traditions and are an integral part of the ongoing success of our current program. As former students weโ€™re a part of this legacy and KFAA greatly value your contribution to our history. It is KFAA hope to preserve and celebrate the athletic heritage and tradition of this great school. KFAA will develop partnerships and apply our energies and resources toward a better athletic program.
