Gwendolyn Hines

Gwendolyn Hines a native Houstonian born October 16, 1952 to William and Nester Hines the third child of eight. I was raised in the Trinity Gardens area of Houston. I attended J C Sanderson Elementary and I. M. Terrell Jr High, before moving on to the mighty Kashmere Senior High School where I graduated in 1971. I participated in the Drama, Spanish, Library Clubs and was a member of the Drill Squadron my sophomore year. I was a big sports fan and enjoyed rooting for our sports teams and the halftime performance is what leaded me to being a cheerleader for the Mighty Kashmere Rams. I was a two year letterman on the cheerleading squad and Co-Captain my senior year, under the direction of the late Lena Maiden-Youngblood who was one of my mentors. I was voted Most Cheerful Female my senior year. I graduated in June 1971 and attended community college on the Kashmere campus. My employment history over the span of my working career includes Armco Steel, The City of Houston and the United States Postal Service recently retiring after 31 years of services.

Iโ€™m the mother of two lovely daughters, Tekyrian and Tarayon. I was reared in a Christian home and was always taught to put God first in all that we do and he would take care of the rest. Iโ€™m a member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church for over fifty years. Iโ€™ve served in several church committees Pastor Aide, Young Adult Choir and Matron of Youth Choir. My hobbies are reading, traveling with family and friends also dancing which is my favorite exercise. My motto is โ€œYou only have one life enjoy it, and treat others as you which to be treated with (Love)
