Garry W. Dunham

Garry W. Dunham was born to Clarence and Birdie Dunham on January 12, 1958. Garry is a 1977 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. During his time at BTW he was captain of the Eagleโ€™s football team under the direction of legendary coach James Bryant and Edward Smith. He was selected to the All District team in football and also played baseball for Coach Odis Johnson.  

After high school Garry attended Prairie View A&M University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education in December, 1981 and accepted a teacherโ€™s position in January, 1982. He began his HISD career at McReynolds Middle School as a coach. For the past 32 years Coach Dunham has been a part of Kashmere High School athletics as coach of varies sports; Girls Basketball, Track, Softball, Golf, and Boys and Girls Wrestling. The past 15 years he has served as Head Football Coach and Campus Athletics Coordinator. His current record is 78-68 with one tie, 4 District Championships and has made the state playoffs 10 out of 15 seasons. Dunham has served as president of the Houston ISD Coaches Association for the past three years. Coach became a Certified Athletic Director and a current member of NIAAA in 2016.

He is married to Pamela Dunham and have four children; Demetria, Tiffany, Danielle and Dayesha. He also has three grandchildren; Amari, Trayvon and Alayah. Coach Dunham is a member of Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as a Deacon under the leadership of Pastor George Curry, Jr.

It is KFAA hope to preserve and celebrate the athletic heritage and tradition of this great school. KFAA will develop partnerships and apply our energies and resources toward a better athletic program.
