Ronald Jernigan

Ronald Jernigan was born on January 14, 1953 to Author and Dorothy Jernigan the third child of four children. He was raised in Trinity Gardens, a small subdivision located in North Houston.  He attended Rosa Lee Easter Elementary, then I.M. Terrell Jr. High where he was introduced to sports. He played football and ran track. He then moved to the home of the Mighty Rams graduating class of 1972.

While trying to find his favorite sport between football and track he played tight end and receiver under the leadership of Coach Johnny B. Felder.  He then decided track was his passion. Ron was coached and mentored by a great man Tom Hendricks who made him believe in himself by saying โ€œIf you want it you can achieve itโ€.  After hearing that Ron (Tight), and his classmates David Broussard, Don Anderson (Speedy), and Michael Henry won district in Mile Relay and had the fastest time in the Houston area. A disqualification in the regional finals prevented them from advancing to the state meet. Ron had an opportunity to attend college and declined, for an opportunity in the elevator trade.  He began working for Schneider Commercial Elevators from which he retired.

Ron was also a member of New Mount Camel Missionary Baptist Church, Located at 4301 Weaver Rd. Houston Texas under the leadership of Pastor Harold berry. Ron has a lovely wife, Donna Wilson-Jernigan. Together they share five children, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
