Amanda Cooper-Porter is a proud 1970 graduate of Kashmere High School. She is the oldest daughter of Louis and Mary Cooper and grew up in a loving and supportive home with her two sisters (Shelia Cooper and Marjory Cooper-Medlow). At Kashmere, she excelled academically, while embodying teamwork and determination as a spirited cheerleader and working part-time at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (now AT&T). Amanda continued to pursue her educational goals and earned a Bachelor’s degree in General Business and minor at Texas Southern University. Her quest for learning never ended and she earned and maintains the professional designations of Certified Compensation Professional, Certified Benefits Professional and Senior Professional in Human Resources.
Through the strong foundation and work ethics demanded by her parents and teachers at Kashmere, Amanda leveraged her expertise to drive innovation and deliver exceptional results. Those results propelled her throughout her career from Kashmere Street as a part-time long-distance operator to Wall Street on the staff of the Chairman of AT&T for shareowner services. Although she retired from AT&T she continued to contribute her leadership skills as the Director of Compensation and Benefits at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Director of Compensation and Benefits at Mattress Firm and currently as the Director of Compensation at Harris County – the third largest county in the United States.
A devoted mother to three children and their spouses – Kerrick (Rochelle), Nicole (Melvin) and Christopher (Alison) and to seven grandchildren, Amanda finds her greatest joy in spending quality time with her family, nurturing strong bonds across generations and creating cherished memories. Amanda is a devoted Christian who worships at Fifth Ward Church of Christ and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
When not excelling professionally Amanda loves to travel, exploring new destinations, adventures, and cultures. She is proud of her ability to prioritize first her love of God and family, a zest for life and a thriving career!
