Lorenza George Scott, Jr. (Frog) is 1978 student-athlete graduate of Kashmere Sr. High School.  Frog began his basketball journey as a prolific scorer at I.M. Terrell Jr. High School before entering the halls of Kashmere in the fall of 1975.  He led the team in scoring his senior season with 18.0 scoring average.  He finished the year with several accolades that serve notice to college recruiters. He was named All-District first team, MVP of Dr. Pepper Holiday Classic and the team was 17-4A District Champions. Lorenza had the previous of playing for Legendary Coach Frankie Brazos at Kashmere.  Lorenza gives special thanks to his favorite Coach, Ned Streety for always keeping him focused and telling me I wasn’t shit each time he took me home after I scored 35 points. It motivated him to work even harder.

After fielding many scholarship offers throughout the country, Frog opted to stay in Texas and continued his basketball career at the historic HBCU Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas.  The legendary basketball squad, under the leadership of Wesley “The Undertaker” Boyd racked up an impressive run at Paul Quinn College from 1978-82.  Scott, a three-time District 8 Most Valuable Player, amassed in his impressive collegiate career, over 4,000 points, and averaged an impressive 26.5 points during his collegiate career, highlighted by a 28.4 average his junior year. He was a multiple all-conference selection and led The Paul Quinn team to the national tournament in 1980 and 1982.  Most notable, Lorenza remains the all-time leading scorer in Paul Quinn history and the school’s first and only basketball All- American.  He graduated with his degree in Business Administration in 1982 and began his professional career as a teacher in the North Forest School District.  After a stint at teaching, he began a different path, working at The Grocers Supply Company before retiring after 29 years in management.  Not willing to just sit home Lorenza gained employment at The Washburn Tunnel and retired from there after 5 years. Currently he and his wife reside in Huffman where he can be found tinkering in his shop and making numerous trips to his favorite fishing spots.  He is an avid fisherman and hunter and his happiest days find him on the water.  He is the father of 3 sons and the grandfather of 4.  He is an active member and usher at The Bethany Baptist Church on Homestead Road.
