Pamela Whitaker

Pamela Guidry Whitaker was a 1969 graduate of Kashmere High School. During her time there, she was a cheerleader for the Kashmere Rams for 3 years, alongside of her twin sister, Paula Guidry Landy. In this capacity, she promoted team spirit and rallied the football team to achieve successful wins.

Not only did Pamela participate athletically in the cheering squad, she was also academically focused, which resulted in being a member of the National Honors Society.

Upon graduating from Kashmere, Pamela attended Bishop College (renamed Paul Quinn College) for two years. While there, she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She then transferred to the University of Houston, where she obtained a B.A. degree in English. This accomplishment led to career opportunities with Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Commerce Bank, Xerox Corporation, and then, a long-term career as Vice President of Human Resources with the American Heart Association (Texas Affiliate). Finally, she became Vice President of Human Resources for Planned Parenthood (Southeast Affiliate), from which she retired after 12 years.

Participating in high school athletics helped to instill a strong sense of self-confidence in relationship building, and in working through teamwork. These assets enhanced Pamelaโ€™s career opportunities.

Pamela is spiritually focused. She is a member of The Fountain of Praise Church, where she serves faithfully as a Greeter who cheerfully welcomes individuals into the services on Sunday mornings.

Pamela is blessed with a daughter (Dione Overshown), a granddaughter (Taylor Overshown), and a grandson (Kolby Overshown).
