Robert Harmon, born on November 15, 1983, in Houston, is a true hometown success story. Raised by Patricia and Robert Harmon, he proudly represents the Houston Independent School District (HISD). His academic journey began at JC McDade Elementary and Francis Scott Key Middle School, but it was at Kashmere High School where he truly made his mark.
By graduation in 2002, Robert had earned the title of Mr. Kashmere, received four letters in football and three in basketball, and was running the show as the team captain.
He led the football squad in receptions during his junior and senior years and became a finalist for the Houston Touchdown Club, proving he was not just a player but a game-changer. Robert also excelled academically, graduating #3 in his class and earning a spot in the National Honor Society.
With multiple academic scholarships, he demonstrated he was the complete packageโbalancing sports, academics, and leadership. Kashmere wasnโt just a school for Robert; it was the foundation for his path to leadership. With a football scholarship to the University of North Texas, his momentum continued. He earned a bachelorโs degree in Business Administration and soon after returned to Kashmere High School in 2006 to begin his teaching and coaching career. Over the next 12 years, he made an impact as an assistant football coach, Head Girlsโ Basketball Coach, and Assistant Softball Coach, leading his teams to the playoffs while mentoring the next generation of Rams.
A major influence in Robertโs coaching journey was his mentor, Coach Gary Dunham, his high school offensive coordinator and later head coach. Dunham took Robert under his wing and helped mold him into the leader he is todayโone who knows how to win both on and off the field. Today, Robert is still making strides as an assistant O-Line coach at Galena Park North Shore High School. In the last six years, the Mustangs have reached the state championships five times, bringing home three state titles. Currently, he is a few classes away from completing his masterโs degree in Educational Leadership, which will further enhance his dedication to education and leadership. Off the field, Robert is dedicated to his family, raising two daughters, Jayda and Janiyah, who inspire him to lead by example every day. Whether itโs winning on the gridiron or inspiring at home, Robert is always pushing to reach the next level.
