Rodney Holcombe

Rodney Holcombe is a 1983 graduate of Kashmere High School. Holcombe lettered for two years under the legendary coach Johnny B. Felder, was a senior all-district performer, and was chosen as a team captain by Coach Felder. Holcombe helped lead a talented team overall by playing his role on the defensive side. Kashmere’s 1982-1983 squad beat the ultimate state champion that same season, which signified the team’s strength. Thereafter, Holcombe received a full athletic scholarship to Lamar University where he played for 4 years and became a team captain his senior year. Holcombe was a solid defender, leading Lamar in tackles and sacks his senior year. He ultimately graduated from Lamar with a degree in Business Management after having repeatedly been on the Dean’s List. Holcombe went on to work in the oil and gas industry for the Lubrizol Corporation in 1988 where he is still employed after 37 years and counting.

Holcombe met his wife of 36 years and counting, Patricia Spears, at Kashmere. Rodney and Patricia were blessed with two beautiful children, Rodney II and Kayleigh Irie, both of whom attended Howard University. Holcombe expresses gratitude to the alumni committee for being selected, and is thankful for the opportunities afforded to him after coming through Kashmere and playing football. Most importantly, he is thankful to God who is the bedrock for all of these things even coming into fruition.
